Jan Sitts was formally trained at the Kansas City Art Institute and received a B. A. in art from Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado. She has worked in the commercial arts, movie animation, as a gallery director and art teacher, and in various other roles in the art world.

Jan has received many art awards, exhibition honors, and art jury assignments. Her unique artwork is featured in public, private, and corporate collections. Currently, her paintings are featured in The Johnson Building Gallery in Gunnison, Colorado; Gallery Keoki in Olympic Valley, California; El Pedregal of Scottsdale; and Proctor Fine Art Gallery of Sedona, Arizona. Jan is a member of the Arizona Watercolor Association, International Acrylic Painters Society, The Society of Experimental Artists, and The Society of Layerists.
